I'm going to let this rest for a couple of days and look at it with fresh eyes. I may do more to the shirt but I kind of like the texture. This painting was photographed outside in the shade around 10:15 a.m.
This acrylic painting of Taylor is painted on 300lb watercolor paper. I still have to work on some values and her eyes. There may be more definition needed with her mouth as well. I think the shapes are fairly accurate and this looks like Taylor at a younger age. Below are the two paintings side by side as they may be matted and framed this way.
This is a younger version of Taylor and again, it isn't quite right, especially around the eyes. Will keep trying until I get a sketch that I feel is paintable. I'm close with this one as far as size and shape of the face. I also like her hair in the reference photo and the way it came out here. Now to get her eyes and mouth corrected so that the sketch looks like Taylor.
To familiarize myself with my niece Taylor's features before painting, this started as a quick sketch but kept having to erase and redo. Taylor is a lovely young lady with the cutest dimples and I want to do her justice.
Today is my brother-in-law's birthday so i did a quick sketch of him from a photo of him fixing my screen door. We all wish you the happiest of birthday's and are thankful you are a part of our family.
