Cactus, Sunday Progress

I've been painting off and on since 1:00 a.m. while listening to the weather channel.  My heart and prayers go out to all those in the South and Northeast affected by the hurricane.

Still lots of modeling to be done and no doubt there will be changes of shapes, colors and hopefully, values. Below is a grayscale which gives one a idea of light, medium and darker values.

I don't know about a lot more modeling? There's something very lovely about the paleness of this painting--feminine,poetic,etc. I admire artists who can paint low contrast. I always get carried away. I think it's my nearsightedness and wanting to see more--which tends to make me over do.
