Landscape Practice

Landscape Practice
5" x 6 3/4"
Watercolor

Allergies are better today  so felt like doing a little practice with watercolors.  The mountains are based on an old photograph taken in Alaska and the rest is imagination.

Looks great. I woke up today also thinking practice water colors. We have something in common. I'm wondering why you chose that small size? I used a sheet torn to 11 x 14, maybe I should go smaller for practice works? Anyway, I think the landscape is lovely. You seem to have more control than I do.

This piece is so nice and loose. Just enough to describe the scene and I love the touches of white you left.

L.W., thank you. When I just want to get the brushes wet and not really prepared for anything I usually grab a small piece of paper. Usually I like to paint the 1/4 sheet size like you do. Actually, I feel I have very little control when it comes wc. It is always a hit or miss with me. I'm learning though it is all in the paint to water ratio.

Sandy, welcome home and hope you enjoyed your trip. Thanks for taking time to comment.

Kathryn, thank you! I love your Carmella sketch.

Lorraine, thanks for taking the time to comment. It means a lot.

Hallie, glad the little landscape caught your attention. Thanks for visiting.

Joanna, thank you so much. Good of you to comment.

I think it's quite beautiful, Ann, and it doesn't seem to me that you need any practice!

Hi Ann! Thanks for visiting my blog :) I had to comment about how much I love seeing this "practice" piece - which is completely lovely to me! It's as if you painted it plein air!
