Young Girl, Watercolor Overworked

This watercolor is so overworked and lost the shapes.  I posted this just so you can see what happens when one doesn't let the paper dry inbetween layers.  I could resort to pastels or acrylics to salvage this but I'm going to let this one rest while I go on to another painting.

Ann, you may not be too happy with this portrait at the moment, but I still find it fascinating!

oh its a pain when that happens! I think the time leaving it be will be well spent, because when you return you'll have fresh eyes and develop the beauty that is already there. xx

Success comes from failure. After you get over the disappointment, you'll realize you came away from the experience wiser.

There are some wonderful areas of this image. I can see you going back to this one. As a watercolor artist, I know too many times I should have "stepped away from the painting."

Your encouraging comments really help. Thanks all of you for stopping by. Actually, I really like most of this painting except for the shadow/neck-chin area (oh need to repaint the lips too) so may try to salvage it with acrylics. Wish me luck.
