Baby Study

This is a portrait study since I need more practice painting portraits and watercolors.  In real life, the painting isn't as textured or blotchy as it looks in this photo.  The photo was taken under fluorescent lighing and has been adjusted in Photoshop to at least come a bit closer to the true colors.

Difficult subject, especially if the photo was unhelpful! But your eye-painting practice has paid off - they're excellent!

Looks great Ann. I'll bet the skin is painted beautifully - sometimes cameras can really mess something up, can't they? Love those eyes and cheeks!

Beautiful baby cheeks and gorgeous eyes! I think the chin might be a bit too tiny...but it could be right on, too, knowing how children's faces are starting out with not much chin to them. Lovely work, Ann!

Judy, the eye practice has helped a lot. Thanks for stopping by. :)

Deb,this camera really picks up the textures of the paper and you know how slightly textured the Fabriano soft press is. I even got out the book after taking those photos trying to figure out this camera lol. Thanks for commenting.

Rhonda, thank you. :) I looked at the chin and it appears to be about right according to the photo. Now have to practice getting those head tilts correct lol.

Teresa, thanks. :) The baby is beautiful and was a joy to paint. I think I overworked the skin a bit but next time maybe can get it right on the first go.

Nora, thank you so much. I'll head over to your blog and see what it is all about. :)
