Hickory Nut Tree, Watercolor

Hickory Nut Tree
6 1/2" x 10"
Watercolor

This tree is along the driveway and was painted from a reference photo. I wish I could have done the tree justice. In the photo, the tree is beautifully backlit from the morning sun. Still I enjoyed playing with the paint.

I think you've really done justice to the backlighting, Ann. I see the sunlight lighting up the far side of the tree and illuminating the farthest leaves. I love this. It's in your signature style, too. Beautiful!

I like it when you get into watercolors like this - you have such a talent with them! I think you've captured the light within and around the tree well and the shadow shapes coming toward us. The angle of the ground going straight up does make me a bit dizzy, though.

Deb, appreciate your comments. I always chuckle when you say "in my signature style". I haven't a clue what that is. :)

Thank you, Rhonda. I get that same dizzy feeling when I look at the painting. :D Thankfully, the real tree doesn't give me that feeling. I enjoy watercolor and perhaps that shows. I don't overwork it as much like I have a tendency to do with oils. :)

Micah, thank you. I am so pleased you are enjoying this blog.
