Birthday Portrait and IT's SNOWING

We had near 70F on Thursday with daffodils blooming. Today the high has been 27F with light snow. Good thing I didn't pack away my winter duds.

This is where the portrait stands right now. I am going to look at it for a day or so because I may need to reshape Sharon's eyes just a bit. I will study them more and decide later. The camera picked up the shine on her cheeks and chin as those areas are not quite that light.

Wow Ann, it's looking great! I love the dark background - it really makes the painting! Have they seen it at this stage yet? The dog is pretty cute, too. What an awesome birthday gift!! I'm certain your sister will treasure it always.

Thank you Deb! I'm having some camera problems or it could be camera operator problems so the photos aren't as good as they could be since the background does have some mid-dark values and not just all dark. Sure you don't want to come to Oklahoma and take photos for me ha ha.

I'd love to Ann! One day, I hope we can get together to paint.

Can't figure out what happened to my comment, must not have hit save or something. Wanted to say that I just love what you have done. Little coffeebreak's paws are well done along with the hands, love the skin tones you have achieved for Sharon. I read today's posting and know you are comparing what you did with what the photo says. Hope you don't change it too much as it is such a well done painting. Your sister is just going to love it.

Deb, someday!

Judy, thank you for your comments. I am hoping to retain some of the freshness but right now Sharon's face has been scraped and sanded down leaving just an impression of tones and shapes. It has been said perseverance pays off. I hope so in this case. :)

I will definitely check back tomorrow to see how you have come along. Must be so frustrating for you.
