Spikes

Spikes

Oil on Ampersand Panel

5" x 7"

This was painted from a still life set-up. This was interesting to paint to get those spikey shapes and try to get a variation in color and value.

I worked on the Spikes a bit more and I am going to call this one finished. This photo was taken with the painting laying on the floor by an open door.

Gorgeous! I don't care what anyone else tells you, do not touch this again - it is perfect as it is. And I love the background with hints of warms here and there to play off the cools of the purples - and the glass vase is so well painted! Whoooo oooooo!!!! A winner!

This is just beautiful, Ann! Did you use a knife on the petals? It really is beautiful! Are you going to hang it? Please, please, please tell me you're not going to scrape it down and re-paint the board! This is just too gorgeous!!!!

Sorry Rhonda, I had already done some touchup work but thank you anyway for you kind comments. I posted the latest version on my website but the photo is showing more blue as the painting was photographed outside. Strange because I have a decent camera so it must be the photographer who doesn't know what she is doing. *smile*

Hi Deb, Thank you for the great comments. There isn't knife work in the flowers but some in the background mostly in the upper area. No scraping down will be done on this painting as I rather like it myself. *smile*
