Mom Study, Watercolor

I did this study of my mother today. She will be 90 on her birthday in September and I am hoping to do a portrait of her as her gift. Again, no drawing on this study except with a brush. If you are wondering why the top of her head is cut off it is because above her head is a color chart of greens that I did Friday. There is a lot that needs strengthening but hopefully will work that out in the next painting.

Ann:

You have truly captured the character evident in a 90 year old face. The use of cooler colors works well to set off the fleshy contours.

Thanks for sharing this.

WOW!!! Ann, this is so wonderful! It totally boggles my mind that you think of this as a "study" rather than a painting! Beautiful!!!! I love the painterly look of it! I think you should take this to class this week! And no drawing first! Wow! Incredible Ann, this is truly beautiful!!! And yes, you've caught the character of a 90 year old so well. I think this is your best portrait painting yet! I love it, can you tell? lol
