Dad's Shaving Mug & Brush

Dad's Shaving Mug & Brush
6" x 6"
Oils on Gessobord
I thought this mug and brush belonged to my step-father but in talking with my mother and brother, they informed me it belonged to my dad. That makes these at least 54 years old as he passed away when I was eight. Though chipped and cracked these will be passed on to future generations in our family.

How wonderful to have this painted memory of your Dad's mug and brush! What a special painting this will be because of who and what it represents. Can you remember watching your Dad shave? I think that is the first intimation for a little girl of what a "man" is :)

Thank you Rhonda. Actually, I don't have any memories of watching my dad shave. I wish I did and wish I had more memories than I do. So I listen when Mom or my siblings share their memories. :)

P.S. I reworked the painting and you can see it on my website. Never can leave the brush alone lol.

Hi Ann, You left a comment on my still life I posted on Wet Canvas so I thought I'd visit you. Thank you for your nice comment on my painting, I appreciate it. You do wonderful work, I really love this one, everything about it. The subject and the looseness. Take care, Barb
