Sketch after Francis Towne

This month the watercolor landscape group I belong to is studying the work of Francis Towne, 1739-1816. This 4" x 6" ink sketch is after his watercolor study, "The Source of the Arveiron: Mont Blanc in the Background". which can be found here. Towne intentionally flattened his image ". . . to reduce the effects of perspective to accent the two dimensional pattern of shapes and colors." handprint.com
